    About the Cross Layout

Cross has four arms reaching out from a raised center. The side arms are long rows that open from their outer ends, and the top and bottom arms are short and stacked two deep.

Everything drains toward the center block, which sits on the highest layer. It looks like the thing to clear first, and it often is, because it covers the middle of all four rows.

    Cross by the Numbers

144 tiles over 3 layers, 12 tiles wide and 10 rows high. These percentages show how often a bot choosing pairs at random won, across 2,000 games at each level:

    Cross Mahjong Solitaire FAQ

How tall is the Cross layout?

It's 10 rows high, one of the two tallest boards here, which suits a phone held upright better than most.

Where should I start on the Cross?

Start on the center block and the ends of the side arms. They open the most tiles for each pair you remove.
